FDIC 2013

The clock is ticking down until time to load up the vehicle and head to Indy! While last year was my first trip to FDIC, I venture to say it was the first of many. Last year, I made the trip up with Rhett Fleitz of the Fire Critic, Willie Wines of Iron Firemen, and Mike Elston of Salem VA Fire. This year is already shaping up to be a great trip as well. It is going to be a trip full of different events. I will be representing the National Firefighters Endowment, and have been helping organizing the Fire Critic/ Iron Firemen Meet-Up. You can RSVP to the event by clicking HERE.

WD captured this photo of us following the climb.

This year, while I won’t be travelling with Rhett, Willie, and Mike, we will be meeting them in Indy! Brother Jared Lindholm from The “Model City” will be travelling up with me. I’m really looking forward to catching up with Zach Green of MN8 Foxfire, Brian Brush, Rob Schield of FireVideo.net, The PIG‘s Chris Moren, among others. Unfortunately, there will one brother who I won’t be able to visit with. WD Patterson, whom I met at FDIC 2012, passed away in September of last year. Rather than climbing with him this year, I will be carrying his name/photo with me as I climb. You can read my recent post about WD by clicking here

    After we arrive on

    2012 FOOL’s Brotherhood Bash

Wednesday, we will be settling in to the hotel near the Convention Center. Two events we hope to attend after arriving are the FSW Meet-up at 5PM at the Ram Restaurant and Brewery (RSVP by clicking here). Also beginning at 5PM is the FDIC FOOL’s Brotherhood Bash at the corner of Jackson St and Meridian St. (RSVP by clicking here)

  • Thursday, April 25th
On Thursday, I should be walking around the exhibit floor. Feel free to stop me and make conversation. Thursday evening, there are also two events that we should be attending. The first is the Courage & Valor 5K. I ran in this event last year, and still aren’t sure if I will be running this year. I have not been maintaining my fitness as I should be, and will decide closer to time if I will be running. Nevertheless, I should be there to cheer on our brothers that are completing the run! (You can register for the event by clicking here.)

We will also be attending the NFFF Stop, Drop, Rock ‘n’ Roll event. This is an event full of food, music, and a live auction. I attended the event last year, and all the money raised goes toward supporting the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation!

  • Friday, April 26th
Once again, Friday, I will be walking around the exhibits and visiting with friends. There are several events you will not want to miss on Friday. The first is the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. This will be my 5th stair climb that I have completed, and you shouldn’t pass on the chance to climb for our fallen brothers. Some brothers will climb in full turnouts w/ air packs, and others will complete the climb in gym clothes. The last I heard, there were still 68 FDNY brothers that need to be represented. Click here and register now! Also, the first 343 to register will receive a limited edition challenge coin. (Register by clicking here) (RSVP for the event by clicking here after registering)On Friday evening, I will be at the Fire Critic/ Iron Firemen Meet-up along with the National Firefighters Endowment Meet-up. This event will be hosted at the Hard Rock Café Indy at 0830PM. We have our own private space for the event, and it is going to be a blast! Be sure to RSVP by clicking here!

We will also be around on Saturday, and then will return home either Saturday evening or Sunday morning. I’m looking forward to all the events planned and hope to see many of you there! Thanks for following along.
