Today, I spent most of the day roaming the floor at FDIC. I was able to meet several guys that I have been in contact with online today and discuss their products with them. I also made several contacts for the National Firefighters Endowment, as we are continuing to grow as an organization.
One of the greatest things is to be walking around and hear the bagpipers and drummers come marching down the hallway. One of our brothers, Mike Elston, is playing with the band while they make appearances throughout the week.
Zach Green, of MN-8 Foxfire Products launched 5 new products today at his booth! One of the most significant ones is the partnership with Box Alarm Leather. They released a LIFETIME guaranteed Leather Radio Strap with MN-8 Foxfire material on the strap! This is the LAST radio strap you will ever have to buy! Andrew Arnold with Box Alarm said that they would replace the strap if you slam it in the truck door, your dog chews it up, or any other damage that it gets throughout your lifetime other than being lost or stolen.
We were also on-hand as Phenix Technology Inc. released a new leather helmet and they also announced the winner of their 40 Helmet Giveaway! This was a giveaway that was a photo contest online in partnership with the NFE, and the Top 10 Finalist had photos that went to a vote. Phenix stepped up the game and ended up giving away 45 HELMETS, as well as made the promise to work with each one of the finalist to help ensure their helmets could be purchased at a discounted price. The winners of the contest were from right here in TENNESSEE! The Wears Valley Fire Department from Sevier County, TN won 25 Phenix Helmets and the brothers at Ozark Fire Protection District in Ozark, MO also won 20 helmets! If you haven’t had your hands on a Phenix Technology helmet, what are you waiting for? I wear the First Due at my volunteer department, and purchased a TL-2 leather for my full-time department. It is the most comfortable, lightest weight leather helmet I have ever had on my head!
I also had the chance to meet with several more of the members of the Detroit Fire Department at the MSA booth. I saw the film, BURN: One Year On The Front Lines of the Battle to Save Detroit, back in November and wrote this post about it: http://www.modelcityfirefighter.com/2012/11/09/burn-one-year-on-the-front-lines-of-the-battle-to-save-detroit/ The film is a MUST SEE, and if it comes to your town or within driving distance…don’t miss out! Check out the dates and locations by clicking here and follow them on Facebook here.
Tonight is the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Stop, Drop, Rock ‘n’ Roll! Country artist Darryl Worley is also set to perform! It should be a great event with food, drinks, music, and an auction that will help benefit the NFFF!
