FDIC Itinerary: The “Model City Firefighter

Even though I always look forward to FDIC each year, it seems to always sneak right up on me. With just a few days to go, things are busy, busy, busy. The good news is that it seems that this years itinerary is filling up, and it’s going to be a busy week to say the least. On Tuesday night, I will be travelling up to Roanoke, VA to meet up with The Fire Critic and The Iron Firemen himself, Cpt. Wines. We will then be heading out for Indy early Wednesday morning, and hope to be there by early afternoon.

Wednesday, April 9th

Once we grab a bite to eat, I should be heading over to the F.O.O.L.’s Brotherhood Bash under the tent near Jackson and Meridian Streets. This is always a great event to attend for those of you who are already in town. Check out the Valley of the F.O.O.L.’s booth and pick up one of their new challenge coin’s that were made by NM-Coin, LLC.

Starting around 6PM, the Fire-Rescue 1/ American Military Institute will be hosting their 3rd Annual BASH at the Claddagh Irish Pub next door. You can find more info and RSVP by visiting the link: https://www.facebook.com/events/832956780051859

Thursday, April 10th

The exhibit hall opens up on Thursday, so this is a great time to get in to check out the booths. Many of the companies offer free items and specials to the first so many visitors of their booths. The Lucas Oil Stadium Exhibits are open from 12P-6P, and the Convention Center Exhibits run from 1P-6P.

tecgenMCFFTECGEN Xtreme Booth #13103: I will be hanging out with our friends over at the TECGEN booth from 3P-4P. Be sure to stop by and visit during those times. I believe they are giving away a few items, so be sure to stop by the booth to have your name tag scanned.

Starting at 6PM, I will be running in the Courage & Valor Fun Run (White River State Park). This will be my second time running in the event, and the course is very beautiful. I have hopes of running in my TECGEN gear, along with Paul from First Due Tackle. Throw on your running gear and cheer us on!

Afterwards, you can find me over at the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation’s Stop Drop Rock ‘n’ Roll. Over the past twelve years, Stop, Drop, Rock ‘n’ Roll has played an important part in helping us honor America’s fallen firefighters.  It is a chance for firefighters to give back to the fire service and have fun at the same time.  Through a small donation at the door you have all helped the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation honor and support the families of firefighters who have died in the line of duty.  The evening, held in association with the Safety Components First Responders 911 Foundation, includes music, fun, food and refreshments, and the highlight of the event – the live auction. Firefighters from around the country bid on a variety of items ranging from a full set of turn out gear to a pearl necklace.  I have attended this event every year since I have been attending FDIC, and if you haven’t made it before…ADD IT TO YOUR LIST!
