Anchor’s Down RV Resort in Dandridge, TN

After weeks of working to repair water damage in my camper, I pulled to Douglas Lake in the Dandridge, TN area this week. Talk about beautiful?!?! The campground my family and I are staying at just opened this year, and it is great! The campground is called Anchor’s Down RV Resort, and a resort is what she feels like. This isn’t anything that would meet the liking of Cpt. Willie Wines of Ironfiremen.com, since there aren’t any trees around, but it’s nice because it actually feels like a vacation. I’ve been known not to take too many breaks away from work between the travelling, working on shift, and my part-time gigs.

Speaking of travelling, it appears that I will be making the trip to Baltimore, Maryland next month for the Firehouse Expo. It has been around 7 years since I have attended the show, so I am really looking forward to it. One of the comments on Facebook reminded me that there was a stair climb that I needed to do, so I suppose I will be doing that as well. I’ve tried to stay in shape lately to prepare myself for anything that may arise, and I feel like I’ve been doing a pretty good job of it. If you’re going to be in Baltimore, keep your eye out for us. I will be travelling with the Fire Critic and Cpt. Wines from IronFiremen.com.

camp1Yesterday, I ventured out to Crossfit: Sevier, a local Crossfit gym here in Sevierville. It’s the first time that I have actually “dropped-in” to a gym that I wasn’t a member at, and I was pretty nervous. It wasn’t too long after going in that I saw a tanker truck pull in the parking lot, and a local brother from Sevier County came in to workout. It ended up being a great time, and it seems as if I have ran in to several firefighters throughout the trip. I know we have had a brother from Gastonia and another from Jupiter, NC staying near us here at the campground.

Tomorrow evening, I’ll be heading into the Knoxville area for the Smoky Mountain F.O.O.L.S. meeting. This is the F.O.O.L.S. Chapter that I recently joined, and we are hosting a training session at the Town of Farragut Town Hall around 6:30PM for anyone interested. The training session will be on the importance of Firefighter Rehab, and there should be some great information exchanged for the guys to take back to their department. Since the Chapter is being re-started, we will be adding new members and electing an E-Board. If you are in the area, come on out and see what the F.O.O.L.S. are about!
