Firefighters were called to C Street for the structure fire after 1AM on Friday.

Around 1AM, C-3, Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Ladder 1, Fire-Rescue 5, and Fire-Rescue 12 were notified of a structure fire on the 1600 block of C Street in the Highland area. As Engine 2 arrived in the area, they had thick smoke visible as they turned from Center Street onto C Street. Engine 2 assumed C Street Command and reported a single story residence with heavy smoke showing. As Command completed a 360, firefighters stretched a 200′ preconnect to the front door and prepared to make entry.

Firefighters were faced with zero visibility conditions and advanced the hoseline through the structure to locate the seat of the fire. As the fire was being extinguished, crews worked to complete a primary search of the residence. Once the fire was quickly knocked down and the primary search was clear, ventilation was set-up to improve visibility inside the structure. Engine 3 laid the supply line in from a near-by hydrant, and additional firefighters were assigned to RIT.

cst7414bThis was the 2nd working fire for B-shift within 24 hours, as they had responded to a working fire in the Lynn Garden community earlier in the shift.
