On August 28th, firefighters in Kingsport, TN responded to a reported fire in a conveyor system at a business in the downtown area. Prior to arrival, an employee had discharged an extinguisher on the smoldering fire. Once crews arrived, they immediately begin investigating to ensure the fire was extinguished. Ladder 1's aerial device was utilized in accessing the source. Firefighters used additional extinguishers on the smoldering mulch. Crews remained on-scene and worked with employees to locate the source of the fire.

As September approaches, I have been keeping up with the events that are being planned in Charlotte, NC for the Charlotte Firefighter's 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. While I have climbed at a variety of venues, one of the best ones that I have attended is not too far down the road in Charlotte. I first attended the Charlotte Climb 2 years ago, and have made the trip every year since.

During 2013, I worked out of Fire Station 2: The Deuce for the majority of the time. We typically try to station (4) personnel out of this station, but due to staffing levels, it doesn't always happen. In January, I was transferred to headquarters due to our shift being down personnel, but I was still able to work out of Station 2 the majority of the time. A few weeks ago, the station assignments were released and I found that I would be getting transferred again.
