Kingsport Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Fire at Westside Inn

Around 08:15AM, the Kingsport Fire Department (B-shift) was alerted of a possible structure fire at the Westside Inn on West Stone Drive in Kingsport, TN. The initial reports indicated thick, black smoke visible from the callers. All responding units responded emergency traffic based on the dispatch information. First arriving units arrived to a two story motel with smoke and flames showing from an apartment on the second floor.

Chief 3 assumed West Stone Command as fire crews stretched the attack line to the fire apartment to begin extinguishment. Additional units confirmed the evacuation of the motel, and secured a water supply. Engine 1 apparatus was used to ladder the structure. A RIT Team was quickly assigned, and crews completed an additional size-up of the structure. The fire was quickly contained to the room of origin, and firefighters removed the siding on the C side of the structure.

westsideinn1Once the fire was brought under control,  salvage and overhaul was completed. KPD and SCEMS also assisted on-scene. The American Red Cross responded to assist the displaced resident.
