If I told you that VIKING, Phenix Technology, Black Diamond, Majestic Fire Apparel and Leatherhead Concepts had gotten together to put up a prize of 10 complete sets of turnout gear, you’d be interested, right? But it gets even better: We’re not talking about just any old turnout gear. The prize includes 10 sets of VIKING’s new revolutionary MACS gear that’s designed to help keep harmful particles from fires away from your skin, the fire truck, your car and your family. So it’s quite a collection of premium brands.
So what do you have to do to have a chance of winning? Put together a video (less than 2 minutes long) where your fire department’s best movers – or at least, the most willing ones – strut their stuff to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”. Then enter it in the VIKING Shake Off Challenge, and the winning team will take away the big prize at our party Indy on Fire on April 22, hosted by The Fire Critic, IronFiremen.com’s Cpt. Wines, and myself.
Beyond helping some lucky fire department to bring its gear up to scratch, there’s a serious purpose behind the Challenge: VIKING and its co-sponsors want to draw attention to the issue of harmful particles and what they could be doing to the health of the brotherhood. We’ve seen a lot more information out there over the past year or two, and some of the pressure that’s now coming to bear is due to VIKING’s efforts with developing and promoting their MACS turnout gear. We applaud the effort, guys, and encourage everyone to support the VIKING Shake Off Challenge. Sound like something you could get behind? If so, fire up your dance team and make your department proud to support the push for better firefighter protection. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with at Indy on Fire!
